Focus on Geothermal-Webinar featuring Valentin Goldberg (KIT) on the challenges and chances of lithium extraction from geothermal systems in Germany

As part of the online webinar series „Focus on Geothermal“, IGC.events - a cooperation of Enerchange and ThinkGeoEnergy – will host a presentation by Valentin Goldberg (KIT) on the challenges and chances for lithium extraction from geothermal systems in Germany on January 21, 2022.

The webinar will provide an approach to assess extraction technologies for lithium recovery from geothermal fluids based on recent scientific studies and to identify potential challenges. Common technologies, such as liquid-liquid extraction, inorganic sorbents, electrochemical methods and membrane technologies are evaluated according to their applicability and integrability in geothermal production.

Based on the technology comparison and the current state of geothermal development in Germany, different scenarios for the extractable amount of lithium carbonate will be presented.
